Kwila Lodge is a hidden gem of a wedding venue in the Gold Coast Hinterland. With a beautifully restored private estate as it’s centerpiece, surrounded by forest, and with three potential ceremony locations, it’s a top choice for your wedding if you’re after that luxury wedding feel in Brisbane. Located only 10 minutes off the M1 highway, 20-30 minutes from Gold Coast, and 1 hour from Brisbane, it’s a perfect combination of that outdoor, countryside venue feel without having to drive too far – which is perfect for you and your wedding guests.

How many guests can a Kwila Lodge wedding accommodate?
Kwila Lodge is quite flexible, with options to suit intimate weddings and larger celebrations. If you’re after a smaller wedding, Kwila Lodge offers options from Monday to Wednesday for micro-weddings and elopements, up to 40 guests. Otherwise for more standard-sized weddings, their maximum occupancy is up to 160. More than enough for most weddings! The venue itself is quite spacious too, so you won’t feel too cramped.
What ceremony locations are there at Kwila Lodge?
The main ceremony space (and the one that Wyn and Josh used) is the Creekside Pavilion – an undercover, amphitheater style space that’s surrounded by greenery and adjacent to the creek. It can surprisingly seat 120 people, and is simple to decorate. The Manor Courtyard and The Great Lodge Courtyard are the other two open-aired locations, both situated next to buildings and trees, with sandstone gravel underneath. If you choose either of those two locations, Kwila Lodge will provide 16 large wooden benches for guests to sit on. Wyn and Josh opted for the Great Lodge Courtyard as their tea ceremony location.
What are the catering options at Kwila Lodge?
Kwila Lodge is a self-catered venue, so you have to use one of their four catering menus. Luckily, the food is pretty delicious from what I remember, and your guests definitely won’t leave hungry. They have two feasting style menus, one alternative drop menu, and a cocktail-style menu. And their canapes also don’t disappoint. As someone who judges venues based on their food, I would absolutely recommend Kwila Lodge’s catering options.
Is there on-site accommodation at Kwila Lodge?
The Great Lodge and The Bungalow are included as day-use sites for getting-ready (so convenient!), but if you wanted to book on-site accommodation for close friends and family, Kwila Lodge has multiple paid options. There are three more villas available to book apart from the previous two, so you’re able to book up to 5 spots to sleep up to 22 guests.
